Working...

It would be interesting to show aside any compilation about our writings and creative process..We are writing posts and probably many of us are still thinking about the content. We have downloaded the program and here we are...

I am seated right now trying to say something and I just have some ideas in mind. I downloaded the program. And I have some pics to work on and probably will be a good start. Or there will be another idea.

  1. I've been reviewing a book I've started moons ago and debating on finishing it for the POD project or starting over. I'm curious what style of books people are choosing, what binding (soft / hard) and paper choices are you making (glossy/matte/plain) and book size? grayscale or color? Number of pages?

In my case I will be considering the costs involved in overseas shipping so size is important as is the weight. Additionally time!!!!!! :)

  2. Hi Mary
sounds good that you already have a book 'half cooked' ..........

Now regarding which book format/ paper etc I 'll be choosing a soft back of course and will be rebinding the book with a hardcover - having said that I dont know if I will actually take the binding apart. It depends.......I will have to see.

I'm afraid that cost is going to limit what I can do........however I would like to use matt paper.

When you started making your book previously - were you using Bookify? It's such an intuitive software.....at least that was my experience.

Have you had a book printed by Blurb?

I assume you are using Blurb ---but maybe you are using another pod service?

I was talking to Sue Corr this morning and I said that maybe she might like to order 2 copies of her book if she can afford it - as if its your first blurb POD book you have made - it can be kind of heart breaking to start cutting it up and so forth.

best of luck but I already know that you have made some amazingly gorgeous books so I am sure yours is going to be impressive.

    1. Hi Aine,

This thought had occurred to me.... I think I'm getting 2 made so that I will have the original and the altered.

  3. I've started a new book, which I'm excited about the content. The new book will be soft cover and I will take it apart and rebind it. What I'm concerned about is getting the POD book apart without destroying the pages at the binding? Any thoughts? I wonder if the paper choice make a difference? I don't want to create a mess. I want to take it apart so that I have single page sheets that I will then add a flexible woven spine so it will lay flat and accommodate the dimension of the elements I want to include. Blurb does boast that their binding is solid.. I will need the full page so chopping the spine is not a good option.

  4. The flexible woven spine I'm speaking about is one that I learned from Stacy Dolin -- she's just released a book with the structure included. Book Art Studio Handbook: Techniques and Methods for Binding Books, Creating Albums, Making Boxes and Enclosures, and More

    It has many applications.
